“HACHITAMA”
Spherical Observation Room
The “HACHITAMA” Spherical Observation Room on the 25th floor of Fuji Television Headquarters in Odaiba, is a symbol of Fuji Television which attracts many visitors every day. The panoramic 270 degree view of the Tokyo Waterfront Area is breathtaking!
What is “Hachitama” ?
Hachitama is a coined word which consists of hachi and tama. Hachi means the numeric 8, while tama means sphere.

Eight is considered a lucky number in Japan because when it is written in kanji, the shape of the character (八) looks like it is spreading widely toward the future, and thus a symbol of prosperity. Also, it looks like Mt. Fuji, from which the name of the company derives from.

The channel number is also eight, so this is synonymous with Fuji Television.

As an additional fact, Mt. Fuji is also called Fujisan in Japanese.
